Trainee Project Scheduler (Engineering Role)

Purpose:
The Trainee Project Scheduler is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring accurate tracking of project timelines and milestones. This entry-level role is designed to build the trainee’s proficiency in scheduling tools and methodologies, focusing on the creation and analysis of engineering project schedules at different project stages.

Accountabilities:
  • Support the creation and updating of project schedules under the guidance of experienced scheduling professionals.
  • Assist in the analysis of project timelines, identifying potential delays and deviations from the plan.
  • Learn and apply best practices in project scheduling and adhere to company and industry standards.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance scheduling skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule Development Assistance: Help in the preparation of detailed project schedules, including defining activities, durations, dependencies, and milestones. Learn to use scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) effectively.
  • Schedule Maintenance: Under supervision, assist in updating schedules to reflect actual progress and any changes in project scope or timelines. Help identify and document schedule variances.
  • Reporting: Support the creation of schedule reports and visuals that clearly communicate project timelines, milestones, and potential risks to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in training sessions and seek feedback from mentors to improve understanding and skills in project scheduling. Stay updated on new scheduling techniques and software updates.
Experience and Expertise:
  • Recently graduated or currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with an interest in project management and scheduling.
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles, with a specific interest in scheduling.
  • Eagerness to learn and master project scheduling software tools.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Key Relationships:
  • Scheduling and Project Controls Team: Work closely with and learn from experienced schedulers and project controls professionals to gain insights into effective scheduling practices.
  • Project Managers and Teams: Collaborate with project managers and project teams to gather information necessary for schedule development and updates.
  • Mentors and Trainers: Engage with assigned mentors and participate in training programs to build expertise in project scheduling.
